Tête Défense The International Center of Communication Paris, France
|
Lee Harris Pomeroy Associates' entry for this competition for an international center of communication is conceived as two pure geometric forms, placed asymmetrically, resulting in their dynamic relationship. The center occurs on the historic axis of Paris and is the counterpart to the Louvre Museum at the opposite end of the axis.
The public spaces contain a large covered exhibition hall and shops and are placed in low buildings which define a major Plaza. A glass pyramid within the Plaza encloses an underground shopping center which is approached by ramp. The towers, enclosed by this Plaza, are connected to the public facilities by bridges and underground links.
