Maimonides Medical Center Primary Care Center Brooklyn, New York
|
New and bold visions in healthcare have recently been developing at Maimonides Medical Center in New York City. Among these directions are those involving community outreach programs within the city. To facilitate the hospital's philosophy for a comprehensive approach for primary care services to medically underserved populations, this free-standing facility has been developed. The center intends to serve a large, recently resettled immigrant population that has not been heavily sought in the managed care marketplace. Available services include primary as well as specialty care, selected diagnostic radiological and cardiological services and others such as OB/GYN and pediatric care. The physical facility redevelops the site of a former neighborhood restaurant. A side of the existing building is carved away and replaced with a clear glass wall enclosing the bright and cheerful new waiting room and reception area. The clinical area is efficiently designed for optimal layout of nursing functions while also allowing for ease of access by patients and physicians from restricted sides. Treatment and radiology areas are located in a common support zone along with the lab. The site is designed to allow for future expansion on an adjacent parcel to be linked by a covered walkway. |
