This 10,000 square foot office interior, located in a pre-war landmarked loft building in the active Soho District of New York City is the office for Lee Harris Pomeroy Associates / Architects. The tall, linear volume has been planned and designed to maximize both the efficiency as well as the existing character of the space. The columns are used to define the main open corridor as well as the work stations they border. Their articulation and exposure is in keeping with the design of the open area of the loft space and inspires other design detailing within the space. The design theme takes minimal materials and uses them in creative ways, with finishes and treatments to form a warm and design-oriented work environment. Included in this concept is the lighting which creatively employs ordinary objects in artistic ways to create a sense of warmth in the design. Interior offices, conference rooms and other support space line the interior wall of the volume giving the work stations full opportunity to take advantage of the large south-facing windows while providing privacy for the spaces where necessary. The space creates a warm, inviting and inspiring workplace for the design firm that created it. |
