Con Edison Projects Various Locations in New York State
|
Lee Harris Pomeroy Associates was responsible for all interior design and architectural work for four Consolidated Edison projects. They include the Energy Conservation Center in the Chrysler Building, two Customer Service Offices, and the Emergency Control Center at the Indian Point Nuclear Power Station.
The 7,500 square foot Energy Conservation Center is located on the ground floor of New York's art deco Chrysler Building. Aware of the public's concern over the increasing costs of energy the Center is designed with energy-saving techniques which begin right in the lobby. The area is heated via ducts which recycle hot air thrown off from 25 projectors that provide a slide show in the back of the showroom. Low energy lighting illuminated the exhibits; the Center's layout is as efficient as its energy measures. Two Customer Services Offices, one in the Bronx and one in White Plains, include offices and computer-serviced information facilities. The Emergency Control Center is a central meteorological station with computerized mapping radiation monitoring and direct-line communications equipment. This Center also contains observation facilities for regulatory agency personnel, government and military officials, as well as press accommodations. |
