Barry BergBarry Berg, AIA
Senior Associate

Barry Berg is responsible for LHPA's projects involving the preservation and restoration of historic structures. He brings unique design talent and specialized expertise in the areas of preservation, restoration, and the adaptive reuse of historic buildings. He has directed many prominent projects, including the interior renovation and restoration of The Plaza Hotel in New York City, the Biltmore Hotel in Coral Gables, Florida, a National Historic Landmark, and is currently involved with an extensive renovation of Saint James Episcopal Church on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Mr. Berg's special expertise with historic structures is accompanied by equally strong experience in the hospitality industry. In addition working with the Plaza and Biltmore hotels, he designed the exterior renovation of a 400-room resort hotel, the Sheraton Sand Key in Clearwater Beach, Florida and, with Darwish Architects, designed the 300-room Mecca Hilton in Saudi Arabia.

Before joining LHPA in 1988, Mr. Berg worked in the New York City offices of Richard Meier and I.M. Pei. For eleven years, he lived and worked in Rome, Italy, working principally with Brown and Daltas Associates and with Darwish Architects, where he was Director of Design and Production. A 1969 graduate of the University of Illinois with a Bachelor in Architecture, Barry Berg is a member of the American Institute of Architects, New York City Chapter.
